How many users can I track?

This is set by the upper limit of the subscription or product you select. It’s the maximum number of users (profiles) you can have in the system at the same time, whether they are active or inactive. You can stay within this limit indefinitely by deleting user profiles.

Can I upgrade to a version that tracks more users in the future?

Yes, you can upgrade to a higher product or subscription plan anytime. Your data will automatically be transferred.

Can I get the Mac version for free if I own the Windows version (or vice-versa)?

Each version must be purchased separately, but the second is only $19.99. You must purchase the full version for one operating system, but you only need to purchase an upgrade for the second. Call or email us to receive a special activation code to convert it to the full version. You will receive free upgrades and patches for each version, free unlimited technical support (specific for each operating system), and you can use each version indefinitely (there are no recurring fees).

Is there a user guide or instruction manual?

You can download free, printable user guide from our downloads page. Weightmania also includes a simple built-in user guide. See “Contents…” under the main Help menu. Why does the pie chart on the meal table appear incorrect?

The pie chart shows the ratio of total fat, protein and carbohydrates.  By default, this is based on the weight of each nutrient in grams.  To change this to calories, use the radio button at the bottom.  When based on calories, 1 gram of fat equals 9 calories, 1 gram of protein equals 4 calories, and 1 gram of carbohydrates equals 4 calories.

When editing a food, how do I change the number of servings?

When you search for a new food, select a food from your favorites list, or edit a food using the Input Wizard, you can change the number of servings by editing the “# Servings” box. By default it contains “1.0” (for one serving), but you can change it to any value including fractions. For example, to double the serving size, enter a 2. To cut it in half enter 0.5. After editing this box, wait 2 seconds and the food nutrients in the boxes below will update. Note, this is different from the “Srv. Size” box, which is used to enter a text description of the serving like “One Bowl”.

How do I separate cardio workouts when viewing charts and statistics?  For example, I just want to graph 5 mile routes or analyze cycling data.

You can easily do this with the filter option.  The filter appears in the bottom right corner of the chart and statistics tool.  First, turn the “Cardio Filter” on (select the “On” radio button), then click the “Settings” button to create a filter.  The chart tool lets you create a unique filter for each graph displayed, regardless of how many graphs are shown.

Is there a faster way to record meals and nutrients?

Here are some tips to save time recording meals.  In general, the process of entering and recording daily nutrition becomes faster over time.  Since most people eat the same 20 to 30 foods each month, it won’t take long to build up a favorites list.

a.  You can cut, copy and paste nearly everything including tables, tabs and forms.
b.  Use drag and drop to copy foods between the meal table and favorites list.
c.  Create predefined meal programs (lets you enter meals for an entire day in one click).
d.  Create a custom food database (lets you enter a foods and nutrients in one click).
e.  When using the input wizard to enter meals, select “journal” from the list of databases to search.  If you ever entered this food before, you can re-enter it in one mouse click.

Are you planning to add more foods to the built-in food database?

We’re continuously adding new foods to the food and nutrient database. You can also add an unlimited number of new custom foods (see the “Custom Food” option under the main Edit menu). Since most people eat the same 20 to 30 foods year round, it doesn’t take long to add the foods you eat most often. You can then record meals in seconds by dragging and dropping foods from the favorites list on the right side of the journal meal table. This is created automatically. Upgrades to the food database are free for everyone.

I’m having trouble printing photos or tables. How can I fix or improve my printouts?

When printing tables (like the statistics, weight training or meal tables), right click directly on the table with the mouse (on a Mac hold the Control Key and press the mouse button). Select print from the popup menu that appears. This is also the best way to print photographs. In most cases, this will significantly improve the results. Our online, web-based products also offer an option to print workout and meal cards which are larger and easier to read.

Is there an upgrade available for my software?

To see if an upgrade is available, go to the main Help menu in your software and select “Check for Product Updates…” Most of our products now have this option. You can also visit this page directly by going to www.weightmania.com/updates.htm. Anytime a new product is released, the information on this page is updated. Currently there is no way to activate or convert a trial to a full version. You have to purchase the full version separately. However any data entered in the Windows or Mac trial version can be transferred to the full version.

How do I transfer data from the 15-day trial version?

In the Windows version, go to the File menu and select “Import”, choose “Weightmania Trial Version Database”, then follow the onscreen instructions. On a Mac, use copy and paste under the main Edit menu to copy the “Databases” folder from the Trial version’s folder to the full version folder. When prompted, select Yes to overwrite the new “Databases” folder with the old one. Another method would be to go inside the Databases folder and copy the individual files.

Does Weightmania provide or generate professional meal plans or menus?

Under federal and state law, only licensed health care professionals, such as registered dietitians, can legally provide specific dietary recommendations and written meal plans. Weightmania has a large food database, nutrition research tools, an option to sum nutrients in recipes, tools to manually create and save meal plans and a feature to print meal cards, but it doesn’t include or automatically generate meal plans. A personalized, custom meal plan from a registered dietician can cost over $300 because they’re specialized, difficult to create and require research. Every client has their own unique, specific needs. For example, some clients will not eat soy, cannot eat dairy, don’t like fish, have limited access to the foods you suggest, have food allergies, food intolerances and more. Nutrition software that offers this feature is outside the price range of this product and usually only available to registered dietitians.

The cloud version of Weightmania can track any size group up to 100,000 users. Please contact us more more details.

What does business private labeling and branding include?

This is only available for business subscriptions and can be requested anytime after you subscribe. It includes adding your logo, business name or slogan, custom background color, replacing the default photos on the home page with your images and removing references to “Weightmania”.

Is there a fast way to create user profiles?

For the business cloud-version, we can enable a free option to let users select their own username and password.

Can I assign each client a username and password? How many administrators can I have? What can administrators do versus normal users?

You can create as many administrators as you want, assign everyone their own username and password or let them create their own. Administrators can view everyone in the system, access their data, reset passwords, add new users, delete accounts, communicate with clients and more. Normal users can only access their own data, cannot see anyone else in the system and are not able to access administrator-level tools.

Can I hide or remove features?

Weightmania includes multiple tools and features. You may want to remove options to simplify the software for users or charge additional fees for those items. We can remove or disable some features at no charge upon request. Other options can be hidden or disabled from your Setup control panel. For example, you can turn off the home screen.
