DESCRIPTION:
Use this tool to help determine your heart rate. Heart rate is the rate at which your heart beats (contracts). It is usually expressed as "beats per minute" (BPM) and can be used to evaluate health and fitness level.
Select a time using the buttons below, click Start, then count your pulse rate (heart beats) until the timer reaches zero. If you select a time other than one minute, use the section below to calculate total beats per minute. At rest,
the average adult's heart rate is about 70 BPM in men and 75 BPM in women. Athlete's usually have a much lower heart rate.
BUTTONS:
15 Sec. |
Sets the timer to 15 seconds.

30 Sec. |
Sets the timer to 30 seconds. Many fitness experts recommend this for the best accuracy.

1 Min. |
Sets the timer to one minute (60 seconds).
|
2 Min. |
Sets the timer to two minutes (120 seconds).
|
Reset |
Resets the timer to the last starting value.
|
Start |
Starts the timer. It will count down, one second at a time until it reaches zero.

Stop |
Stops the timer, if it's active.
|
Calculate |
Calculates
your heart rate per minute using the value entered in the "No. of Beats" field.

Clear |
Clears all
fields and resets the timer.

FIELDS:
No. of Beats |
Specifies
the number of heart beats you counted before the timer reached zero. This value will be multiplied
by the number displayed on the right side. It will be four for a 15 second timer, two for a 30 second timer and
one half for a two minute timer.
